(8) Interview Session With One of Laundry Service

I have made interview with one of Laundry Services situated at Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam Selangor. Since the owner not inside the premise at that time, i only can ask some question which the staff could answer. The staff that i have interview is Indonesian. I have informed that there are few types of laundry services provided there such as wet wash, dry cleaning, hand wash, iron and special instruction from customers (remove stain and sewing). The laundry services operates from 9am to 9pm on Monday to Sunday while 9am to 7pm on Sunday.

What i have understand from the explanation of the staff, Dry Cleaning is does not mean that our clothes not wet. It's still wet by using a chemical solvent other than water. The solvent used is typically tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene), which the industry calls "perc" or "PERC". It is used to clean delicate fabrics that cannot withstand the rough and tumble of a washing machine and clothes dryer; it can also eliminate labor-intensive hand washing. A clothes dryer, tumble dryer, or drying machine is a powered household appliance that is used to remove moisture from a load of clothing and other textiles, usually shortly after they are washed in a washing machine. Many dryers consist of a rotating drum called a "tumbler" through which heated air is circulated to evaporate the moisture, while the tumbler is rotated to maintain air space between the articles.

The Dry Cleaning Conveyor System can stores and retrieves the garments, apparel or clothing from one area to another, or into the ceiling space of dry cleaning store or laundry. It can be controlled by a press button control module, the existing computer system and bar code reader, or a simple hand switch.

The Laundry or POS Software can work in conjunction with the machine; just type in customer’s details and within seconds the conveyor stops on the required slot near the counter. According to the staff, the important of using the system that the laundry services could make analysis on :

• Which service that the customers prefer to get
• Who / Whom (customer) regularly used the services
• What time customers prefer to use the services (Festive season, etc)
• What time customer not prefer to show up (Office hour, etc)
• What types or laundry / gourmet that customer prefer to use the laundry services especially for Dry Cleaning Services

Since i have interviewed her how the machines operated, i have understood more about laundry service.
